Not afraid to wear her “art” on her sleeve, Barcelona enchants students with rambunctious architecture and avant-garde style. Across the city, buildings and parks flaunt the influence of the world’s most famous Moderniste artists.
From the whimsy of Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia and Parc Güell to the edgy Fundacío Miró and the famed Museu Picasso, our etr Barcelona Learning Adventures are sure to be an eye-opener! Along the way, we’ll learn about the culture of Catalonia and discover the language, traditions, and cuisine that set this city apart from many of her neighbors. Wandering down the lively, pedestrian Rambla to the heart of the Gothic Quarter, listening to street musicians and Catalan chatter, you’ll discover that Barcelona’s delights are not just for the eyes alone.
Being an etr program, we are sure to explore local markets, engage in our traditional cooking class, as well as learn from our professional instructors, the intricate hand, arm, and body movements of the highly-expressive Flamenco. We’ll dive into the yummy local cuisine and make sure to introduce the students to “el pa amb tomàquet”, bread rubbed with tomato and finished with olive oil, everyone’s soon to be favorite. Considered to be the best Catalan invention of all time!
For etr excursions out of Barcelona, we explore Girona and the maze of cobblestone streets which make up their 500 year old Jewish Quarter as well as hike along the medieval city walls which also provides great views of the city.
Barcelona is a great four or five day city and is often combined with Madrid, or alternatively, Valencia, for a great week long learning adventure. As each etr itinerary is custom designed we can insure the exact program you wish.
