Nestled in the Warwickshire countryside on the banks of the river Avon, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon is a study in the thatched charms of Tudor life. The Bard, of course, steals center stage in town where visitors can see his 1564 birthplace and tour the cottage of his wife.
The Royal Shakespeare Company keeps the dramatic tradition alive at three fantastic theaters, which stage works ranging from contemporary to (you guessed it) Shakespearean. Our Stratford itineraries can include professional drama workshops, backstage experiences and, of course, attendence at highly regarded live performances. In between shows, we can take you to explore Bath, founded by Romans in 1AD and famous for its hot spring spas or maybe prehistoric Stonehenge. Or, for the lepidopterist in all of us, maybe take in Europe’s largest butterfly farm.
To visit or not to visit? What a question! (Sorry…we couldn’t resist.)
