On a diverse, cross-curricular etr Madrid Learning Adventure, your students will get a firm understanding of what makes Madrid one of the most visited cities in Europe. We’ll explore the famed Palacio Real, which with 3,748 rooms, is Europe’s largest palace, and revel in the rhythm of daily life at the Plaza Mayor and the Parque del Buen Retiro. We’ll dive into centuries art at the world-class Prado to view important masterpieces by El Greco, Valazquez and Goya, and also the nearby Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid’s Spanish contemporary art museum and which houses paintings by Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró and one of Spain’s most famous artworks, Picasso’s Guernica.
Cosmopolitan yet traditional, Madrid offers a dynamic mix of commercial present and imperial past.
Being an etr program, we’ll discover rising artists of another kind in the flamenco halls where we learn the magic of this flamboyant traditional dance. Your students will also explore the local markets, learn secrets traditional cuisine, and, surely stop for famed tapas or maybe enjoy a thick hot chocolate drink with “churros”. Should you wish, we’ll venture out of the city to explore Toledo or maybe nearby El Escorial for a taste of luxury.
