Iceland

Come and Discover the Land of Fire & Ice!

It has been said that Iceland is the perfect student travel destination, and we will not argue. Be it ecology, botany, geology or volcanology, every day in Iceland presents visiting students with learning experiences which deepen their understanding of renewable energy, plate tectonics, glaciers, lava fields and volcanoes.

Our engaging tailor-made programs to this Nordic island nation take in Pingvellir National Park, the UNESCO World Heritage Site where the Icelandic Parliament congregated since Viking times, as well as Strokkur, the active geyser found in, where else, the Geysir Geothermal Area. While in the area, we also hike to view mud pots and steam vents. On the itinerary is Gullfoss, the magnificent 32 meter high double waterfall, and Friðheimar, where we learn about geothermal greenhouse farming and green energy. Traveling along the Southern Coast, we’ll pass charming little fishing villages and farming communities and hike along black sand beaches. And, of course, we’ll have time for a soak in one of the many hot springs dotted around the island.

Our Iceland Learning Adventures include outdoor activities include glacier hikes, Icelandic horse treks and whale watching from the capital, Reykjavik, the world’s northernmost capital. We also venture out on Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, to view recently calved icebergs up close and personal. Groups exploring Iceland in the winter months experience the beauty of the aurora borealis, commonly known as the Northern Lights. Along the way, students gain a full appreciation of Icelandic culture, cuisine, hospitality in this country of exceptional physical diversity and beauty.

“The most amazing thing about Iceland is not Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe or that Iceland uses 99% renewable energy. It is the fact that the most popular restaurant in Iceland is a hot dog stand.”
