The region of Mai Chau, due west of Hanoi towards Laos and renowned for its natural beauty, is the home of the White Thai ethnic minority. Though a people rich in traditions, they are underprivileged in monetary terms, at times not being able to provide for a roof over the heads of friends and family. Working alongside villagers, students will construct traditional stilt home in a community service project with tangible rewards for those in need. And create life-changing memories for themselves. Come along!

Upon arrival Hanoi we have a full day orientation and exploration of the capital. Day Three we transfer by private coach to begin a 3.5 day community service / service learning project / home build in the rural region between Hanoi and the Laotian border. Challenging, yet rewarding work. While engaged in the community service we stay in the village. After completion of the build we return to Hanoi and depending upon your program duration can include two or three days of exploration / adventure with a kaleidoscope of age appropriate activities including Ha Long Bay or Hue.

The basic outline: This program is best with a minimum of 6 or 7 nights in country. Good tourist class hotels in Hanoi with long-house village stay while completing our community service component. All meals are included.
